The Klaas Schoone Memorial Award can be seen as a tribute to the person whose passion for innovation, cultivation and technology has taken the world’s production of orchids to a higher plane.

The Klaas Schoone Memorial Award can be presented to a person, group or organisation that has made a positive contribution to improving orchid production and its products.
The initiators
The initiators of this award are the Schoone family, Floricultura and the Advisory Board.
The objective
Within a broad international scope, products, persons and/or organisations can be eligible for this award as based on making a major contribution to orchid production as well as having made a highly significant and distinctive impact in the fields of innovation or production technology.
The Memorial Award
The Memorial Award is international in scope and is presented in the form of a certificate. The presentation is made every two years and consists of a cash prize of € 10,000.00 and a certificate. The award will be presented in the Netherlands in the spring (April/May).
The organisation
The administration with the secretariat is in the hands of the VKC (Permanent Judging Committee) in Roelofarendsveen, The Netherlands, in cooperation with the Advisory Board.
