GOEMANS TROPHY
This yearly prize is offered by Messrs. Parigo Horticultural Co. Ltd., Spalding, England and is officially called the "Jan Goemans Freesia Trophy".
The yearly prize is judged by the Freesia committee of VKC, and awarded to a new, improved Freesia variety.
The Freesia committee of VKC judges the nominated varieties on set criteria. At a yearly (spring) exhibition the name of the possible winner of the Trophy is published, and the Trophy is awarded.
A new variety, this means, that a veriety must be offered to the commercial Freesia grower in the calender year of the exhibition, and no later than the following year issued. This must be a variety which has been in trade no longer than three years.
The criteria for an improved variety are based on a.o. culture, keepability (tested after standard sales simulation trajec), production and or quality. The variety must have a certain trade perspective.
The contestant may be: - the winner
- his representative
- a grower who has lawfully obtained plantmaterial
The inscription on the prize will take place on a yearly basis at the expense of Messrs. Parigo Hort. Co. Ltd.
The winner may keep the prize in his possession for a period of a year; the prize cannot be kept.
Two months before the yearly presentation the Trophy has be be redelivered at Wulfinghoff Freesia BV Rijswijk or at VKC in Roelofarendsveen.
