TOP ROSE

VKC is responsible for the judgement of outdoor roses in the Netherlands and works by order of the Netherlands Society of Arboriculturists, culture group Roses and Rose rootstocks.
For this VKC has established the Outdoor roses-committee.
Procedure Rose judgments The Hague
VKC judges the International Rose concours of the Council of The Hague in the Westbroekpark. Here, in department A, the roses which are not traded yet, are judged during two flowering seasons. In department B trade varieties can be entered. Varieties with a general score of 65 points go further to department C.
One cannot enter oneself for department C. The variety has to earn this. A variety can be judged for a period of maximally five years. The highest possible prize is the Golden Rose of the Hague.
Toprose judgement
For this roses with an average score of 6,5 in department B of the Rose Concours in the Hague are coming into consideration, or roses which are entered directly for the Concours as well as the Toprose judgement.
During a period of three years roses are planted in five rosaria in the Netherlands: Westbroekpark in the Hague, Rosarium Zoetermeer, Rosarium Boskoop, Rosarium Lottum and Rosarium Winschoten.
Judgment takes place under the auspices of VKC.
The title Toprose is given to roses with an average score of 6,5 points during a period of three years. For rambling roses a score of 6 points counts.
