CRITERIA NOMENCLATURE
- Is the correct Latin name stated on the label?
Typography is of minor importance. The writing of a family name only in lower cast and typographical mistakes is to be considered faulty. If the stand clearly contains one (two?) crop(s), the Latin names is (are) not necessary.
- Is the cultivar name correct and placed between single raised brackets? The latter is obligatory to prevent confusion with trade names. If a label only contains one name, which is not recognisable as a cultivar name, this is considered to be faulty.
- Is the cultivar group name correct and spelled correctly and does it not cause confusion? The cultivar group name is placed preferably between brackets, between the Latin part of the name and the variety name. If placed differently, the fact that a group name is stated, must be clear anyhow (other punctuation marks than brackets are faulty. Group names, which are placed as variety names are faulty. The word 'Group' must also begin with a capital letter.
- Is an eventual trade name not to be confused with the variety name?
The trade name may not be used as a variety name and must always be accompanied by the correct cultivar name.
- Is the R sign used correctly, e.g. only to indicate trade mark?
- Can the label be read from minimally 1,5 meters distance?
- The result is expressed in the grouping of the stands over four quality categories e.g.:
- Outstanding (no mistakes);
- Good (some minor corrections);
- Must improve (many mistakes);
- Insufficient (no or too little number of names).
