For quality and assortment qualifications the normal auction demands for the highest class are applicable. Sometimes lots are taken from the daily supply. However these are products of good quality, to exhibition material extra care and attention have to be paid, especially with respect to presentation. |

Points to be taken in consideration |
|
QUALITY The products must sound, healthy and clean, especially when it concerns products, which have been in contact with the soil. With products with a wax layer as red cabbage, the wax layer should stay intact, without finger prints. Further the colour is very important; it must be uniform and of correct tone. Too unripe is not good and too ripe is also wrong, Although it has to be taken into consideration that the product is meant to be shown in an exhibition, so that boxes are opened directly after entering the show. This means, that e.g. tomatoes may be somewhat riper and better on colour than the normal auction supply.
ASSORTMENT Try to put together entries with a very uniform assortment. The auction requirements are often too liberal with this respect. Sorting by hand is recommended. Do not only consider diameter, but also length of products such as cucumbers, carrots etc.
PACKAGE The products can be packed in the usual auction or export packaging such as wooden crates or cardboard boxes. The surface must be smooth and filled up. The correct weight is less important. Wrapping in foil of salad, paksoi is not advised especially not when it concerns one entry. When of one group more entries are made the wrapping per piece could be shown in one box.
EARLIES With normal vegetable crops the period of growing of the product is taken into account. Earlies are judged as such. New vegetable crops can also be considered as earlies. The growing experience is normally rather small in this group and this is also valued in the judging. |

For quality and sorting requirements for fruit also the auction requirements must be followed, as mentioned in the Extra Class or for Class I.
QUALITY The fruit must be of the best quality and all characteristics of the variety with respect to form and colour must be present. For strawberries and other berries it is important that they are fresh and dry. For grapes, besides a perfect quality and the shape of the bunch, the berries must be totally covered in ‘dew’. Blackberries and raspberries must be ripe, but not overly.
ASSORTMENT For a good presentation the differences in size must be as little as possible. The contents of a packing unity must be uniform in colour, quality, ripeness and variety.
PACKAGING The usual auction packaging may be used. Apples and pears must be packed in those as usual.
