MAIN ACTIVITIES JUDGING
Flowers and plants
At exhibitions, shows and for consumer value research trials the Permanent Judging Committee (VKC) is invited to judge the entries of growers and breeders. These judging sessions are generally intended to improve the quality of crops, enlargement of the assortment and promotion of floricultural products.
VKC has to its disposal a number of more than 300 specialised judges, divided over 36 judging committees. Because of their expertise, the committees are well able to judge the differences in quality and range of the assortment. The committees award various prizes to the entries and the VKC takes care of publication in various trade journals.
Some important shows and exhibitions where VKC is active are Hortifair in Amsterdam, Keukenhof in Lisse and the Trade show for Arboriculture ‘Plantarium’ in Boskoop. VKC also has a large task at Floriade, the world horticultural exhibition, and is also involved in judgement of gardens (Garden of the Year), towns and villages (Entente Florale).

Other
Besides the judging of the above mentioned events the jury committees are requested to judge cultivars for various awards such as:
Alstroemeria Award
Goemans Trophy
Top rose
Teije Dijkhuizen Trophy
VKC is also involved in the judging at the global exhibition Floriade, the competition Garden of the Year and Entente Florale Netherlands (the greenest town or village).
The judgings take place according to certain objective criteria.
