FOUR CANDIDATES IN THE RACE FOR ALSTROEMERIA AWARD 2010

After a first round in which 14 candidates participated for the Alstroemeria Award 2010, after judgment by VKC four candidates were elected for the finals. Yearly breeders send their newest cultivars and during a period of two years these cultivars are followed and judged by the Alstroemeria committee of VKC. The first 14 participating cultivars were:

Konst Alstroemeria:       X-treme
                                   Himalaya
                                   Stratus

HilverdaKooy:                Hawaiian Dream
                                   Monte Bianco
                                   Panorama

Royal van Zanten:         Chicago
                                   Frosty
                                   Orissa
                                   Dancing Queen
                                   Icemint
                                   Manilla
                                   Roselyn
                                   Salmon Queen

Besides the valuations of quality, judged at exhibitions, also other relevant growing information and statistics were measured in the final judgment as to bring the final race back to maximally four candidates.

The committee will 'follow' these cultivars closely and will visit the nurseries where the cultivars are planted.
On April 29 during a trade evening of the Alstroemeria Show on Keukenhof, Lisse, the winner of Alstroemeria Award 2010  will be made public.
