Amaryllis strongly represented at Keukenhof

Traditionally Amaryllis garantuees much colour in lots of space on shows. A special prize for the best Amaryllis at Keukenhof has been designed.

Large flowering Amaryllis in pot

Third came 'Olaf', a red flowering pot-amaryllis with 9.40 points.
Second came: the multicoloured cultivar 'Gervase' with 9.50 points.
The winner became a double white Amaryllis 'Ice Queen', with 9.55 points. The Award was for Floralia from 's-Gravenzande.

Large flowering Amaryllis as cut flowers

The biggest competition with nearly 50 entries. The quality was great, which is proved by the lowest score of 8.95 points.
NL van der Geest from 's-Gravenzande became third with a white 'Nymph', with 9.42 points; second came Kwekerij Apollo from 's-Gravenzande with 'Apple Blossom' with 9.44 points. The winner was Amarylliskw. A.G. Boers from 's-Gravenzande with a green/white cultivar 'Challanger', which gathered 9.49 points.

Stands

All entries, represented in a stand gained an Extra Stand Price with a score above 9.0. Penning Freesia BV from Honselersdijk gained 9.20 points, LTO Groeiservice Amaryllis from De Liler got 9.32 points, NL van Geest from 's-Gravenzande gained 9.35 points, directly followed by Floralia from 's-Gravenzande with 9.39 points. The big winner was Barnhoorn Hippeastrum Breeding from Noordwijkerhout, who showed a unique small flowering assortment of a great quality: 9.48 points.

Small flowering Amaryllis pot and cut

A new competition with nearly twenty entries. Penning Fresia BV from Honselersdijk had a great small potamaryllis 'Mini Queen': 9.41 points. Amarylliskw. AG Boers from 's-Gravenzande received 9.43 points with a small flowering red/white cultivar by the name of 'Fairytale. A top entry was made by Barnhoorn Hippeastrum Breeding from Noordwijk under number 1500: the dark purple red cultivar gained 9.62 points.
