09-04-2010

Lilac and Viburnum very popular at Keukenhof

The number of forced shrubs, shown in the Willem Alexander Pavillion every year,  is striking. A wonderful presentation with Lilacs, Viburnum, Forsythia and other forced shrubs are very attractive for the public. Also the smell attracts many visitors who enter the pavillion. In cooperation with the Forced Shrub Working Group Keukenhof opened a great number of competitions with special Awards, which were divided as follows:

Other Forced shrubs

In this category Prunus and Forsythia are the most imortant representatives. Kwekerij Barakole from Aalsmeer entered Prunus glandulosa 'Alba Plena' (Almond) in good quality and gained 9.04 points. The Award though was for Forsythia 'Lynwood Gold', by Fa. W.J. Rijlaarsdam from Nieuwkoop with 9.46 points.

Viburnum

All entries were refreshed once and the highest score was good for the Award. Nearly 20 entries with top quality were delivered for the jury. Mediaverdi VOF from Aalsmeer had several good scoring entries, even two first ratings.
