Baptism Alstroemeria AmelieĀ®

22-04-2010

On Saturday 17 April prime-minister Balkenende opened the new flower market Plantion in Ede. During this event also a new variety Alstroemeria by Royal van Zanten was baptised. This red cultivar, called 'Amelie', was baptised by the young lady herself.

Amelie® derives from a cross breeding made in 2004. During the last five years it has been tested extensively, not only in the Netherlands, but also in Kenia, Colombia and Japan.

The striking red cultivar has a 'heavy' quality and a beautiful bud presentation, which makes it very attractive for the vase. The compact height of the crop makes handling easy.

The name Amelie stands for fighting spirit and persevance. The growing power of Amelie shows that it is a fighter; without ground cooling it will grow strongly and present its heavy branches.
