Keukenhof shows Alstroemeria, Iris, Lisianthus and Lathyrus

Iris en Lathyrus Show zeer aantrekkelijk
Keukenhof organized two competitions for Iris, one for a vase with 30 stems and a vase with Novelties. In this category the competition was large; a good qualilty was brought in. Juno from Enkhuizen gained the second best place with Number 9732: 9.10 points. However Iris Loire proved to be the best novelty. The pastel blue Iris can be called a valuable additio to the assortment. Gebr. Bot BV from Andijk were responsible for this crop and scored 9.15 points and the Award for the best novelty.

Vase with 30 Iris
Prof. Blaauw and the Blue Magic by Gebr.Bot were shown in a superior quality, although the differences in number of points were minimal. Kwekersver. Omniris/Maveridge from Sint Maarten had an attractive product, the rather new cultivar 'Explorer'. They scored 9.05. Maveridge Int. BV came with a winner: 'Eye of the Tiger', which scored 9.20 points. The bronze lip and purple stander and a striking mark in the heart makes this Iris a very attractive product, which was also proved by the Demonination Iris Keukenhof 2010.

Stands
Three stands by Gebr. Bot BV from Andijk, Juno from Enkhuizen and Maveridge Int. BV from St. Maarten all deserved an Extra Prize on behalf of Keukenhof. Maverigde gained the Standprize for the best Iris stand; the assortment in colours and the number of groups were responsible for this denomination.
Lathyrus
A royal flower, which can be seen in the stables of the Royal Palace at Soestdijk in July, whereby amateur growers and clubs show their best. In the Keukenhof show mainly professional growers participate. Nearly 50 entries of an extremely good quality were in the race for one Award: The best Lathyrus of Keukenhof 2010. Third came a salmon coloured by W. Prins from Honselersdijk, a beautiful product. Lathyrus 'Misty White', also by W. Prins with 9.65 points came in second; a heavy stem with lots of beautiful white flowers. This firm also entered L. odoratus 'Bordeaux', a purple/red cultivar with many flowers on a sturdy stem: 9.68 points and the Denomination Best Lathyrus of Keukenhof 2010 were for this beautiful product.
