NK Dahlia Veldhoven, Holland magnificent

Dutch Championship Dahlia in Veldhoven of high standard
Even though the weather conditions were bizar of late, in Veldhoven a show of high standard was presented with an extraordinary quality dahlias. VKC was asked to judge this championship, where besides amateur growers also organisations of tradesmen were present.
7 branches until 9 cm amateurs
Dahliaver. Flora from Veldhoven scored best with Dahlia “Lismore Moonlight’ (9.5 points) with great uniformity, correct flower shape and good leaves.
7 branches 9,1 cm / 16,9 cm amateurs
More than 160 entries where W.W. te Winkel from Goor with ‘Ann Breckenfelder’ scored 9.35 points, just too little for the first prize, as B. van Gerwen from Veldhoven scored best with his yellow seedling 51 with 9.4 points.
7 branches as from 17 cm
Henk Jansen from Veldhoven entered dahlia ‘Grenidor Pastelle’ with a prink and yellow center and scored 9.50 points because of the striking colour. However, the winner became Bloemenver. Groen en Keurig from Veldhoven with the light pink dahlia with white into the center. With ‘Ruskin Splendour’ the jury was shown a uniform dahlia of a beautiful colour, perfect flower shape and ripeness. The cup was for this product with 9.6 points. This score was also sufficient to be awarded the large Prince Bernhard Cup for the best product.
25 stuks amateurs
B. van Gerwen from Veldhoven with his purple red decorative dahlia seedling 86 became winner with 9.3 points and the Cor Weijers Cup for being the best in the category 25 branches.
Largest flower
All entrants were given tubers of Dahlia ’Break Out’ and they had the task to grow the largest flower. Dahliaver. De Pompon from Eerde-Veghel got to diagonally 24 cm. Kees v.d. Schans from Veldhoven got to 24,5 cm and the winner became B. van Gerwen from Veldhoven with 25,5 cm.
Arrangements
Also here the competition was great. With 9.9. points Dahliaver. Arcadia from Schijndel scored best with a three dimensional arrangement.
Seedling
The most best or interesting entries were chosen from many entries. Dahlia van Eeuwijk uit Lisserbroek had the best decorative white with pink Dahlia, which had a very large flower. The sturdy stem gave the flower a perfect position, as if the flower is looking at you. With this colour and size the jury awarded the prize for the best seedling to Van Eeuwijk.
7 en 25 Dahlias
The combination Geerlings/Eeuwijk scored best with Geerlings Perfection. A perfect yellow flower with lots of petals divided in a perfect shape, which scored the cup in the category 7 pieces. This was repeated by the same firm, as with 25 pieces the highest score of 9.25 was awarded because of the striking uniform colour.
Baptism Dahlia 'Gerard van Maasakkers'
Gerard van Maasakkers is a singer from Noord-Brabant who in the seventies was one of the first singing in his own dialect and scoring well with a vast number of fans. On the photo the undersigning of the papers takes place: the breeder signs with lookers on: Gerard van Maasakker and jury coordinator Gerard de Wagt.
