FloraHolland Trade Fair, Naaldwijk
09-03-2011
VKC judged flowering pot and foliage plants with a trade jury, based on a great number of criteria. These criteria are transformed to a jury report, which is sent to the participant.
VKC also judged a number of rose entries in trade quality, with two wrapped up bunches in trade quality. The shape of the flower and bud, the colour of flower and bud, ripeness of the entry, stem and leaf quality are the most important criteria. Two types of roses were determined, firstly the roses with an exclusive large bud presentation and the other standard roses.
Standard roses
The cultivars Aqua! en ‘Heaven’ were the most important representants in a contest where three participants reached the absolute top. John van Os Rozen from De Kwakel scored high with Aqua!, as well as D-Roses BV from Klazienaveen with ‘Heaven’ en Poot Rozen VOF from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel again with Aqua! They all reached the beautiful score of 9.59 points. The firm Maria Rosa from De Lier became the winner with the entry Testarossa with 9.61 points, an excellent bunch of red roses. Also the Extra Certificate of Floraholland was won by this firm.

Exclusive bud quality
A fine competition with good entries. Also here three entries competed for the first prize. Meijer Roses from Pijnacker proved again to be a top scorer, their entry Avalanche+ gained 9.7 points. Even better was this firm with the yellow-cream Savita which scored 9.75 points because of the beautiful uniform presentation. The winner though was Velden Roses from Wateringen with the highest score of 9.60 points for the White Naomi!, a bunch of perfect ripeness, colour and length and uniform bud presentation. Velden Roses from Wateringen became the best rose entrant with a score of 9.80 points and also the FlorHolland Certificate.

Foliage plants

Three plants were considered special: Draceana fragrans ‘Massangeana’ by Marginata BV from Aalsmeer was a good planta for trade, with the good shape and colour. The participant received 9.30 points. Second became the Chrysalidocarpus lutescens (Areca) by JB Plant from De Lier with an entry with especially good leaves. The winner became Calathea roseapicta Little Princess.
