Chrysanthemums at Keukenhof score high
Were there mixed feelings with respect to the presentation of the Chrysanthemum show, this proved untrue, as the VKC jury were presented with a beautiful and especially interesting judging session. There were appr. 200 entries, which were attractively arranged. All chrysanthemums were arranged 'on colour', which offered a bright show. It was a pity that a trade evening could not be organised because of lack of interest, which is a missed chance really. The assortment was well represented and many new colours were to be seen. A great number of contests were to be judged by VKC.
Pinched chrysanthemums
A good number of entries: J&A Flowers from De Lier had a beautiful entry with 'Zembla', a nice full branch with good quality flowers scored 9.53 points. This was not sufficient for the first prize however, because this was for F1 Lewis Flowers from Tuil with 'Anastasia'. The white pinched chrysanthemum had beautiful large flowers and nice dark leaves. The quality of the flowers was uniform and perfect. The score for the 1st prize was 9.56 points.

Single flowering chrysanthemums
Appr. 60 entries in an exciting contest: Buijsflowers from Poederoyen showed the rather new Francofone. A beautiful vase of chrysanthemums scored 9.46 points, shared with Bacardia Sunny by Fides BV from De Lier. This firm also had a winner: the Grand Pink. This chrysanthemum often scores high and also now 9.52 points and thus the first prize was scored by Fides BV from De Lier.

Filled flowering chrysanthemums
A lot of competition in this contest: the largest representative was Zembla, but also a number of new cultivars could be seen. Gommans Egchel BV from Egchel reached the Top Three with Saba with 9.48 points. Even better was Kreling Chrysant from Bruchem. They showed the green Quebec, with heavy branches a perfect show, good for 9.55 points. By far the best though was Baltica Yellow by G. van Leeuwen from Kwintsheul, which gained 9.66 points and the first prize. Besides this also the denomination Chrysanthemum of Keukenhof 2011 was theirs.

Spider chrysanthemums
The jury has seen better qualities in the past, as the uniformity was not perfect. Ten entries came third with 9.35 points. Second became 'Delianne White'by Frans van Dijk Flowers from De Lier with a fine vase with good flowers, clean leaves and good ripeness. The winner was also to be found amongst 'Delianne White', but sent in by Beyond/Paul van Kester from Hoek van Holland. This appeared to be a beautiful spider type with a green heart in striking colour and fantastic quality: 9.42 points.

Santinis
A small contest with 10 entries. Nursery De Hungerenburcht BV from Haarsteeg reached 9.38 points for 'Ferry'. The winner though became Madiba Tanga Pink, a pink chrysanthemum with an intense colour, richly flowered and fine fark leaves.

Pot mums
Although the presentation was not altogether correct (one entry lacked in quality and presentation), five entries were judged. Specialist in this cultivar is Strijbisverbeek BV from Maasdijk. They presented 'Ramires'and scored 9.3 points. The winner was Fides BV from De Lier with 'Breeze Dark Bronze' in fine quality; 9.35 points and the first prize were theirs.
