Judging Anthurium during Keukenhof 2011

Two cut Anthurium judgements are good for great winners
Although cut Anthuriums were present during the whole Keukenhof period, only two judgements took place. The first on 14 April, the second two weeks later. In both Awards were to be given. Due to miscommunication the assortment of cut Anthuriums was a bit disappointing.
Nearly 30 entries in the first badge, in small and large flowering cut anthuriums. The development in this crops shows through new cultivars, so innovation is a fact. The quality of the small flowering crops was great. Evanty RP Group from Moerkapelle stayed ahead of Fleuranthu BV from Maasbree with Previa. Evanty scored with Violet Heart, a wonderful purple Anthurium with a white cob; a true novelty which scored 9.42 points and the Award.

In the large flowering cultivars the quality was high and Oosterzon from Moerkapelle ended close to the top with 9.30 points. With 9.42 points J. van Adrichem from Bleiswijk became the best entrant. The red Tropical showed a nice uniform vase with beautiful round flowers, also good for the first Award.

Also in the second badge small flowering varieties were represented. Koos van der Knaap & Zn. vof from De Kwakel scored a second place with the trendy coloured Princess Ariane Purple. Hubers-Vermasen from Gendt became the big winner with an optimal score of 9.35 points with the entry Princes Alexia Optima. They also received the Award.
In the large flowering Anthurium a small assortment with old and new cultivars was presented to the jury. Peter Kouwenhoven CB from Honselersdijk scored great with his Cheers. the light pink cultivar had a beautiful colour and was well grown. Jan van Velden & Zn. from Maasdijk received the Award though, with his Anthurium L'Amour. This white/red flamed Anthurium was modern and innovating. They won the Award for the large flowering species with 9.40 points.
Pot Anthurium
To badges determined the winner of the Award for the pot Anthurium. The potplant is a hot item, which could be seen from the great show in the Beatrix pavillion. The first badge offered more than 30 entries. The attractive arrangement gave jury and public an excellent idea of the individual plants. In the first badge the red 'Vito'by Breugem Plants from Bleiswijk socred 9.30 points. A good product with many uniform flowersappeared good for the then highest score. In the second badge Gebr. C.P. & C.J. Stolk BV from Bergschenhoek scored even better: 9.35 points for the dark red Royal Champion. A great result which appeared engough for the Award for large flowering plants.
Small flowering pot
In the second badge Houwenplant from Hoek van Holland took the lad with 9.35 points for Anthurium Bouquet Cherry. The entry showed nice full plants with lots of flowers. Hofzicht BV from De Lier scored 9.30 points and the second place with Hot Lips. In the first badge only the best quality was shown. Also here Gebr. C.P. and C.J. Stolk BV from Bergschenhoek showed to be an excellent grower. He became second with his Pink Champion with 9.4 points, and appeared to become first too with Cherry Champion (9.4 points). This aubergine coloured anthurium was sturdy and stocky, with a great number of flowers. The uniform entry was good for 9.5 points and the Award, and also the Award Anthurium of Keukenhof 2011.
