11-08-2011

Be welcome in this church and let the fragrants and colours exhibition lead you through this 26th edition of a unique exhibition. Last year a lot of energy was involved to get as many entrants as possible, this year however without extra activities the number of entries was virtually the same as last year. 415 entries made by 125 growers, which means that 3.3 products were delivered per entrant. Not only the assortment at this show is unique, also the quality is of a high level. VKC was required to perform judging activities. The winners were:
Antirrhinum
New colours are coming onto the market. Last year Flora Delight from Leiderdorp became a winner, now this firm did not score higher than 9.30 with 'Maryland Lavender'. Also FJ van Antwerpen scored this amount of points with Potomac Rose. The winner was the pink cultivar Antirrhinum majus 'Opus Pink', a uniform entry with a straight spike, beautiful leaves and uniform in ripeness. This vase scored 9.32 points and thus C.D. Groen from Kwintsheul received the prize.

Limonium
The jury was positively surprised with the perfect quality. Esmeralda Farms came near to the prize, but A.J. Voskamp from Naaldwijk with Limonium sinensis Nevada Diamond scored only just higher. This single Limonium showed a full branch with uniform little flowers. Also the structure of the branch was uniform. 9.38 points and the prize were for A.J. Voskamp.

Helianthus
A restricted amount of entries because of the bad weather conditions was delivered, but P. Hoogendonk from Hoek van Holland scored high with the wellknown Sunrich Orange, which was just under the one for Willem P. Prins from Maasdijk, who also showed Sunrich Orange. This entry had a beautiful pure colour with long yellow flower .... with a nice purple heart and would have scored even higher if all flowers would have been uniform. 9.20 points and the prize were his.

Eustoma (Lisianthus)
Nearly 50 entries in a rich flowering single and double flowering Lisianthus. Two prizes were to be awarded: for the best single and the best double flowering cultivars. The single flowering wellknown 'Piccolo White' received 9.53 and thus the prize was for Gebr. V.d. Berg from Naaldwijk. The quality of the flowers was perfect, also because of the good structure of the branch. In the double flowering cultivars Rosita Rose Pink by Floralis/JC Aarse & Zn from Honselersdijk scored best. The number of buds and the double pink flowers were striking and the uniform condition were good for the first prize for JC Aarse.
