Ermelo and Westerveld scored gold in the national green towns and villages competition Entente Florale Nederland. Ermelo scored highest in the category Towns and the municipality of Westerveld gained the first place with the sub center Dwingelo in the category Villages.

In the category Towns also Meppel (silver) and Leeuwarden (bronze) participated this year. In the category Villages and small towns Boxmeer with the village Overloon (shared 2nd place), Meerssen (bronze), Vlagtwedde with the village Bourtange (shared 2nd place) were competitors of Westerveld.
