Contract Floriade 2012-VKC

On Monday 19 December 2011 the contract between Floriade 2012 and VKC was signed by Sven Stimac (project director Floriade 2012) and Leo van der Zon (director VKC) in Venlo. VKC thus takes charge of the judging of Floriade 2012.
VKC is responsible for registration and judging in floriculture and has been organizing growers' competitions for more than hundred years as to challenge breeder and grower to take the development and quality of floricultural crops to a higher level.
During the Floriade season, which starts on April 4 and continues until October 7 2012 entries of numerous national and international participants are judged on their presentation through fixed criteria. Besides these presentations Floriade expects many product entries from the Dutch floricultural sector, which will be judged in Villa Flora (the indoor exhibition of Floriade 2012). For the winners of these socalled Floriade Competitions besides the honour of winning, a considerable amount of prize money is offered.
New in this edition of Floriade are the consumers' judgings in vegetables and fruit, where a consumer's panel is requested to judge these products on their smell and taste. Also these judgments will be performed by VKC.
