The genus Allium contains world wide over 700 species. Ornamental onions form a small group within the genus. Allium giganteum and its hybrids are by far the most important members. Once in a while other species are introduced with or without success. Allium roseum is not a newcomer, but until this moment auctioned under 'several'.
